Key Stage 4 – IGCSE
In Year 10, the students enter a 2 year exam study programme which prepares them for their IGCSE examinations in the June of their Year 11 academic year. GCSE exams have been a part of the British National Curriculum since the mid 1980’s and provide the student with an opportunity to gain a qualification based on a two level grading system.
The IGCSE exam is the International version of the British GCSE and has been the world most widely recognised International qualification for over 25 years.
Students in KS4 study the compulsory Core and Foundation subjects, but are given options for auxiliary subjects before entering Year 10
Core subjects are compulsory for examination and are available in Core or Extended depending on the ability of the candidate.
Core papers can only achieve a grade range of C – G
Extended papers achieve a grade range of A* – E
Students will need 4 IGCSE’s of grade A* – C in order to achieve convalidation with the Certificado de Educacion secundaria. 2 of these would need to be from English, Mathematics or the Sciences. Students will also need to achieve minimum of a D in their Spanish subjects: Lengua and Ciencias Sociales by the end of each year.
