The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, the world’s leading youth achievement award, is offered around the globe, operating in over 130 countries, and has encouraged millions of young people to challenge themselves. Sage College is proud to offer the Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels to pupils aged 14 and older.

Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements. The Award also can play a critical role in the students’ development outside the classroom, focusing on communication, problem solving, and leadership skills.  Through their participation in the Award, students complete four sections of the Award:  Service, Skill, Physical and the Adventurous Journey.  Through these sections, each student is encouraged to focus on areas of personal interest and discover ways to help others through service, to gain or improve upon a skill, to stay active with physical challenges, and to plan and navigate their way over challenging terrains. These activities encourage personal growth, self-reliance, responsibility to themselves and others, and service to their community.
