HIGH SCHOOL

In High School, our programme includes the well known IGCSE and A Level British qualifications, as well as the Spanish EvAU, where students have the opportunity to complete both systems which opens doors to International Universities as well as Spanish Universities.
With innovative methodologies that encourage students to have an active role in their learning process; inquiry based learning, learning by doing, collaborative learning amongst many more, students at Sage have every opportunity to be successful.

In Key Stage Four, students study a series of compulsory and elective subjects, preparing for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams that are taken at the end of year 11. The compulsory subjects of the IGCSE are: English, Spanish, Mathematics and Sciences. Next, students select three options: ICT or History; Physical Education or Travel and Tourism and Business Studies or Drama Studies. In addition, all students take the subjects of Core Physical Education, Spanish culture, Spanish Language and Literature, Enrichment Programme (School Musical or Duke of Edinburgh or Chess or Model United Nations) and PSHE.

With the IGCSE results, students then confirm their A-Levels choices. A-Level studies are equivalent to the 1st and 2nd Baccalaureate in the Spanish system, and are developed in the last two years of Sage College. A-level British courses are highly personalised and allow students to tailor their studies by choosing subjects that best suit their interests. In Years 12 and 13, the last two years of Baccalaureate, students are prepared for the Advanced Levels, Advanced Subsidiary Examinations (AS) in Year 12 and Advanced Level (A) in Year 13, from the University of Cambridge (CIE) and Pearson Edexcel.

Students wishing to enter Year 12 at Sage College must have gained an A or B grade at IGCSE Level in the subjects they wish to study for A Levels. Between Years 12 and 13, students must study for four A Levels including Spanish. On leaving Sage College the majority of students will have achieved four A Levels. Students must be diligent in their study and homework set, otherwise they will be asked to leave the course. In the first term of Year 13, students are guided through their university applications. The majority of students who have studied at Sage College go on to study at third level education in the Spain, UK, Germany or the United States of America. A Level qualifications are recognised world wide.
